Offer independent real estate tours to Mexico to babyboomers
Offer real estate investment tours in Mexico to people interested in living for less in a beautiful, welcoming and relaxing country. We do not sell real estate, only workshops and tours. Our goal is to educate and shield potential buyers from unscrupulous realtors and developers.
Idea Description
Our real estate tours are designed to help you discover this exotic and friendly country in a safe, fun, and professional way. Whether you are longing for a home on the beach, a colonial gem, or land to build on, we show you how to turn your dream into reality. Properties abound, offering the comfort and peacefulness few can afford in our country.
We pledge to take you on a relaxed, no pressure tour of Mexico. We discuss the real estate market and laws, immigration visas, banking, health care, rentals, life as an expatriate, food, language, history, culture⦠all in 4 or 7 days, depending on the package you choose.
We are independent and proud to be so. There are no strings attached.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
We will start advertising for our tours for the 2009 season. We believe that Mexico could be the answer to many people who have lost the ability to retire comfortably in the USA. With their savings, they can buy a house for pennies on the dollar, and not have to stress about how long they will live or if they will have to find a job in their late years to afford their retirement. Since we are independent and do not want to receive corporate, influential, financing from developers, we need funding to advertise our services and start the business.

Q1: Is the service I am offering attractive enough to generate interest and get clients to travel to Mexico on these tours? Or should I offer something else? Should I not be independent and instead represent developers in Mexico?
If I were you, I would consider adding the realty aspect to your business. Your model already has you doing much of the ground work that a normal realtor would do, but you are allowing someone else to cash in on lucrative commissions. I think that you are approaching the Mexican market correctly, because most people in your target market are unaware that they can live for cheaper south of the border.
Working for developers is a great idea. You can probably get great contracts this way, and therefore have a sustainable source of revenue. However, why not try to make some money closing on these properties. Its just something to think about. I think that you are on to a great idea in a market that is underutilized. Do some more market research into your target consumer. Find out the type of snowbird that is most likely to make the trip. Emphasize monetary aspects other than housing prices that will affect their decision, such as lower food costs and other incentives. Also, find pretty women to do the tours....
