but still seem the same-switching on stuff as normal after a mornign of winding.

ALL lighting-ALL low drain devices-switched to windup-or solar battery-buying several-which store the energy till needed-I see as the FASTEST way to immediatly save power nation wide
street lights? solar battery with grid backup-maybe a "lite winder" hired to keep outside lamps on-
and this will change the "mindset" to go to a more independent energy plan-and when power goes out? you still have lights n radio
I have hooks on the ceiling-and hang up a "shake em flashlight" for light-where I got the idea.

How long do you have to wind things before they run out? I have a windup flashlight that I am constantly winding. I love it, but it seems a lot less practical for my kitchen lights. You should check out the cool things people are doing to reduce the cost of hot water heaters.
