Idea Description

BGF seeks to empower a new, bold generation of globally-savvy, professionally-skilled & civically engaged leaders able to tackle the most pressing social issues facing American communities of color from the highest levels of all professional sectors of society. We seek to impact the very culture of schooling in the U.S. so that international education, cultural awareness and preparation for competitiveness in the global economy become part and parcel of a 21st century education for all students, regardless of race or class. Since 2007, 125 BG Scholars have studied abroad in 32 countries on 6 continents. Our goal is to impact 1000 Bardoli Global scholars in 10 regions annually by 2013.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

Building community is pivotal to the success of a social change movement. With this award, the Foundation will harness the power of Web 2.0 to finally create a sorely-needed new, interactive online platform that will allow scholars, alumni, donors, prospective supporters and applicants to join the movement and become a true collective force for change, regardless of geographic boundaries. Our online community will ultimately not only connect BG scholars and alumni together through user profiles, but also help the foundation become a force in advocacy and shaping public opinion through blogs, podcasts, webinars and video journals, as well as online sponsorship of scholars and schools.
