summer olympics in Jerusalem in 2048
Wouldn't it be wonderful to aim toward having a regionally hosted Summer Olympics in Jerusalem, with the opening and closing ceremonies in Jerusalem, and events in all of the neighboring countries as well as Israel?
Idea Description
The sea events could be anywhere along the Mediterranean coast. The marathon could wind its way through archaelogical sites in Jordan, Tiberias, Bethlehem, ending in Jerusalem. Equestrian events - Egyptian Arabians are reknowned worldwide.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Unfortunately, the actual Olympic charter says that only one country can host the Olympics, but the IOC has already approved the pan-Arab games as an Olympic-style event. Probably the $10000 could be seed money to identify all "peace through sports" organizations in the Mideast and develop an umbrella organization to coordinate planning toward such an event - maybe convincing the IOC that the expense of the Olympics justifies regional sponsorship -
