Art For The Innocents
As an artist, I'm always looking for new ways to enhance the lives of others with my paintings. While working to earn a living I also strive to "give back" in some way. I would like to paint portraits of terminally ill children-and give it (at no cost) to the family; to honor them and the child.
Idea Description
I've worked in pastel for many years, living and traveling in Mexico extensively, selling in galleries and shows while honing my craft. I spent time in Russia, doing 30 portraits there. Here at home I have sold in galleries, won awards in exhibits and my work can be found in many private collections. Southwest, Black Art, Ethnic scenes, portraits and contemporary cafe' scenes; most include people, as I have a real fondness for my fellow humans! Physical problems and less finances have slowed me, but still active,& currently in a gallery. I also want to honor families who are loosing or have lost a child; painting a portrait, at no cost to them, of their child.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I would use the money to buy much needed art supplies, framing etc. and develop a website to promote my work and this idea. I would contact some local hospitals, the children's ward, and see how this idea can best be realized. The money would allow me to not only promote my art "Iguana Studio" from my home, but paint and professionally frame the portraits that I would like to do and donate to families. So this is a duel endevor- for profit and non profit. I saw a news clip of an artist that paints portraits of fallen soldiers and gives it to the family. I thought, what a wonderful and generous thing to do!" One day, I thought of doing the same -for the families of sick kids.
Vote for it now.
