Recycled Rockstar - Art, Music, and Education for The World
Recycled Rockstar Ind. wants to take used musical instruments out of the solid waste stream and put them in the hands of people who can use them to generate positive political, social, and environmental impact. We hope to offer people the equipment and education to do so at minimal expense to them.
Idea Description
Recycled Rockstar Ind. is a company designed to provide conceptual artistic development, production, and services to individuals and companies dedicated to generating positive political, social, and environmental impact through art, music, and education. These products and services will be geared toward being sustainable, affordable, and profitable for all who are involved. Recycled Rockstar Ind. will work toward acquiring a permanent location to house the company’s activities. This location will serve as a performance venue, art gallery, teaching facility, and social club in which artists and musicians of all ages and varieties can have the opportunity to create and showcase their work.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Recycled Rockstar Ind.’s initial and primary product line will be used musical instruments that have been taken from the solid waste stream and had their aesthetic and acoustic qualities recovered to their fullest potential. Instruments which have recoverable musical qualities will be restored and refinished by independent artists to be sold as custom, one-of-a-kind works of art that are still playable. Instruments that are musically nonfunctional will be recycled into custom, one-of-a-kind works of art that have taken on a new functionality as home furnishings. Any winnings will be used for the development of this product line and an online avenue through which to market and sell it.

As to a physical location: Your best location is your website because that is the hub of all activity. Do you know / care where Amazon or ebay are physically located? I don't.
If you could match people who have musical equipment to people who want / need musical equipment (vetted by you to make sure they are a school or proper foundation), then you'll be a hub of a ever-growing wheel.
If you're planning on remaining small, start of as an S-corporation for the legal protection. If your goal is to be national / international, consider setting a C-corp.
Talk to an attorney or SCORE about the legal organization. It's not easy to change if you need to.
