Fotos For Humanity: "Sharing Pictures, Not Taking Them"
Photographers volunteering our services to cultural groups, non-profits, schools, health clinics, etc. in New Orleans. We donate photos, usage rights and profits to help organizations fundraise and promote and market their identities. We plan to offer classes & workshops and open a photo gallery.
Idea Description
Fotos For Humanity not only connects photographers with community groups, but also helps groups with fundraising and self-promotion. Our photo sales have helped buy beads and feathers for Mardi Gras Indian tribes and we created a slide show for a health clinic's website. We are establishing a Board of prominent local leaders and educators and hope to create a foundation for small grants. We also plan to raise revenue by offering photo workshops that provide a unique, personal and immersive cultural experience. We most urgently need physical space for offices, meeting room, photo library, classes & workshops.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
1) Rent an office space w/ room for photo gallery & classroom/workshop space
2) Website Design & Hosting
3) We'd like to buy some cheapo digital cameras for kids to use in FFH community projects

Q1: The potential for this to be a profitable business serving photo tourists is huge. Do we stay non-profit or go private? Can we run a photo-workshop business and still be a non-profit organization?
I like your idea; I want to improve your odds of getting funding I will vote for your idea if you will vote for mine. My idea is for a web site that raises money for inventors and entrepreneurs called New Idea website Check out my idea blob submission and visit New Idea Website and see what I can do for you. http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/4060-NEW-IDEA-WEBSITE The need for jobs is one of the biggest problems that a democratic government faces because creating jobs is an unwanted byproduct of business and industry. The reason I say its unwanted is the more jobs a business creates the more its expenses are and the smaller it’s bottom-line. If business and industry have their way they would run their companies with no jobs at all no management or labor. To deal with this dilemma I pr…moreopose a federal venture capital carrot fund that literally pays entrepreneurs to create jobs. The investment bank would be expected invest in seed level startup projects like yours and to lose money at a specified dollar per jobs ratio for example during hard times that figure may be as high as $20,000 per job and good times the figure may be as low as five dollars per job, by controlling this ratio the fed could roughly control unemployment. The bank will be expected to fund novel products and services and stay away from things like restaurants that will simply draw jobs from other restaurants or moving factories from one part of the country to another. If you like this idea vote for it and send the congressional letter from the website. Sincerely Frank Scruggs
Wonderful idea - I look forward to seeing your non-profit grow and prosper both in N.O. and other U.S. cities! Count me in.

Voted for this one. Being a photographer It rings a bell with me. I forget how many times I've set this fancy thing on auto and handed it to young and old, to try out. It's well worth any risk to the camera. Sometimes, they teach me. :-)
