The mission of PLML is to develop and deliver multiple, standards focused, high quality, low cost, user friendly, widely used educational software applications to the K-12 learning space. We have already produced one piece of software, Boolify, to prove our mission.
Idea Description
Over the past 25 years information and communication technologies have changed the world by increasing access to information, expanding communication, and increasing productivity. Yet IT has failed to help teachers become significantly more productive in their core teaching activities. Today, deficiencies in software applications are the major obstacle. Educational applications are difficult to learn, poorly adapted to classroom use, expensive and require excessive technical support. These final barriers can be overcome. There exists an opportunity for a new type of organization to revolutionize educational software development and dissemination. This organization is PLML.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
We will use the award funding for key development purposes. 100 percent of the funding will go to develop 1-2 educational pieces of software that we will use to further prove our model. Educational software will be produced in collaboration with major national partners (talks are in progress) and will be delivered to teachers and students free of charge. This additional momentum will provide the important momentum we need to develop into a fully-funded, proven organization.
