The V-book ; alternative to text book for edu. / environment
An electronic educational device that helps the environment in the process. Features 2 adjacent panels opposed competition and reads like paper. Will save 4 trees every 8 years per student user and, through college, cost a fraction of the price of real books to operate. Must see.
Idea Description
The V-book is the alternative to high school and college text books. Unlike similar digital books, this one will have 2 adjacent panels. The 2 panels will best simulate an actual textbook with an paper like display. Battery life will last weeks this way.
It allows the use of cartridges. Similar to a memory stick for a digital camera. These cartridges can be lent to students and returned for re-use.
Conservatree.org estimates that a 40-foot tree yields only about 8,300 pages of treated paper. The average college textbook contains 700 pages. This means that for every tree cut down only about 12 textbooks are made...
Not to mention 1 V-book will weigh 2 pounds. No more back strain for users
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Since I have just graduated from High School I plan to fund for college so my parents don't have to sell one of their kidneys. I plan to learn as much about communication and the inventing world and pair up with the creators of current electronic books in hopes of producing a more educational device. In doing so it will ultimately save thousands of trees and open opportunities for budget students. From the estimates read, I've concluded 1 V-book through high school and college saves an average of 4 trees per student. A year of college text books costs about 500-1000$. The V-book can be created and operated for much less than that.

This is a very interesting idea.
