spare water donations to the Murray-Darling Basin

Water saved from home rainwater tanks or caught from leaks could be well used in the Murray-Darling Basin if we could find a reasonable way of getting it there.

Idea Description

Water can be saved from putting a bucket under the shower to catch and save the water as we regulate the temperature. This can add up to be quite a lot. Or perhaps a bucket under a drip to catch wasted water. Home rainwater tanks are another way of catching water that could be put to good use. If not needed in the garden, where else could this water be used? It could be donated to the Murray-Darling Basin.
Similar to garbage collection, we could have water collection and either truck or train it or perhaps send it in a pipe to where its needed. Or perhaps a ride-a-thon where we gather people to ride a bike with a small trailer load of water on it to the Basin. Similar to City to Surf.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

- Advertising for people to donate wasted water or rainwater
- Investigate feasible methods of collecting and transporting the water ie - trucks, train, bike-a-thon
- Investigate distrubtion tactics - who/where and how
