Specialty/Truck Farm in energy straped times.
Specialty corps,aka truck farming.
Strawberries, raspberries, punpkins, ect.
Idea Description
Old story, what's changed? Gas prices/energy, pure and simple. Supermarkets are looking for more local suppliers. A you-pick-em branch would be more for advertising than profit making.
I was raised on a farm. I have strawberries and raspberries in my back yard now. All I need is more ground.
You'd think with corn and soybeans going through the roof, ground would be hard to come by. Not so. Corn, soy beans, wheat, all take very large fields, hundred acres and more. Ten acres will support a small specialty/truck farm.
Equipment? You don't need and can't use a $100,000 tractor. You can start with a simple gas powered tiller. Any number can play folks, it's wide open.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Simple more ground to plant. The web is full of information on growing this stuff, even if I didn't already know how.
Vote for it now.
