Q1: Why do you feel you should win the grant money? Well, so far I have funded myself with everything I have. I think I have done terrific so far with what I have accomplished. We have just signed a licensing agreement with a huge baby manufacturer and in August of 2008 our Handy Burp'ems will hit the shelves of all Babies R' Us locations. We are truly blessed that they have made it this far, but I would love to contribute more to them. I have many ideas for expanding the line and have designed a new wrap/sling to add to our line. Everything is at a stand still due to funds and this would be a wonderful opportunity to move forward with everything if I were to win.

Handy Burp'ems are a burp cloth unlike any other baby burp cloth you have seen before. Almost everyone who has ever fed a baby has experienced the infamous spit-up. And what do we do when we sense a stream is coming?? We try to catch it in our hands in order to protect our clothes, baby's clothes, the floor and/or the furniture!
Handy Burp'ems are a mom-invented, unique burp cloth with a protective covering for your hand. So how does it work? Handy Burp'ems protects your hand and baby from wearing spit-up during and after a nursing session or bottle. It also protects baby's face from any accidental scratches that may occur due to jewerly being worn on parent/caregivers hand.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
OMG! If I were to win I could expand the line and work at getting them well-known. I have so many ideas for more designs with the Handy Burp'ems, a washcloth, bib and a new style sling/wrap to add to our line. This would be WONDERFUL! I have the will power to make them huge and I believe in myself and the products. I would somehow have to repay my gratitude by sharing with everyone just how this product was made possible. My hopes and dreams are huge and so are the products I want to add. I just know that those out there in need of something better would truly benefit from my products. They have helped me so much I know they will help others.

The bank will be expected to fund novel products and services and stay away from things like restaurants that will simply draw jobs from other restaurants or moving factories from one part of the country to another. I wish I would have had them when my kids were babies. My hands were always so chapped and sore from washing bottles, nuks, teething rings along with always washing my hands in hot water to disinfect germs to keep my girls healthy. So I totally understand how painful spitup can be on already dry and cracked hands and the soft fabric would have protected my tired hands! I know, I give them today as shower gifts and all the new moms absolutely love them!!! Great idea and I love the expended product line!!!

In many homes mom are the ones who will look for things to make certain things in their life easier. Whether it be a burping session or a mess bag or something else, we will do what it takes to make it easier and more convienent. I am one of those moms who filled a need I had and now have a wonderful business that I have worked so hard at and it feels good. For many, it does inspire them to continue with their dream of inventing. If you believe in yourself and your product it can work. I speak to other mom-inventors every day and many times I hear that just by reading my story has inspired them to continue moving on with their idea. And that makes me feel great because I did the same thing while reading other mom's success stories! They made me want to continue on and I am very happy …morethat I did!
Wow. I think that might be more engaging than "mom made". Also, and this is sort of nit-picky, what does “mom invented” suppose to do, inspire, persuade, something else? It's sort of like Air Borne using the catch phrase "Invented by a teacher". Teachers aren't better trained than other people in issues of health. I get that teachers are more, in theory, more vigilant about their health, but I digress...
