Providing Hospital Advisors

Many immigrants don't understand the American healthcare system. The government should provide an advisor who speaks multiple languages who can guide family members who don't understand the hospital and healthcare system.

Idea Description

When my father fell from a ladder and required extensive surgery, he was transported to the Stanford Medical Hospital. Both my parents are Taiwanese born immigrants who do not have a solid grasp of the English language. Thus, when given pain medication and treatments, my parents would simply nod their heads because they didn't understand what was happening. Only until a family friend of ours explained in Taiwanese dialect what was going on did my mother complain about not giving consent to many of the treatments. The government should provide an advisor who can speak foreign dialects and explain each process and treatment that a patient is undergoing to family members.

Appeal to hospitals and government authorities to pass a law requiring the government or hospital to provide a medical advisor who can speak and understand the dialect/s of the family that asks for help. If there is no approval, then I will take steps to being a foundation that trains or hires such medical advisors to provide for immigrant families or families who do not understand the american healthcare system.
