FreeSolarPanels gets paid the same rate as the power company: if solar doesn't generate enough energy for a household in the month, they pay the electric company the rest all at the same rate. How do you make money ? It is a bit confusing
A solar system that saves on average $100/month in energy bills can cost $15,000 to set up, meaning it won't pay off for over 12 years. SolarCity.com had a great idea: charge people $80/month to rent a system in a 15-year lease: people who sign up pay $80/month to SolarCity but usually pay about $100 less to the electric company, netting a person on average $20/month PLUS they are using solar instead of oil, a GOOD DEED. SolarCity even maintains the panels. But, why not do even better? FreeSolarPanels buys a solar panel and installs it on someone's house. This costs us $15,000. That person pays FreeSolarPanels for whatever electricity the panel generates, at the same rate they would have paid the electric company, to the tune of about $100/month.
