Family Collectives of America: A support company for strong extended families.
Idea Description
Strong, supportive, extended families are the cure for every kind of problem in our society today. Child abuse, drug abuse, lack of economic opportunity, and anything else you can imagine. We need a mechanism to formalize something that immigrants have done for generations. Those that can afford it, pool their resources and support those that are coming up ... When they can, the young family members contribute to pay back the older "investors" and support new family members just coming up behind them. I propose an organization be formed whose business is to create, facilitate, plan, organize and fund from family donations ... "Family Collectives of America" ... and transform our society.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I believe in the power of free enterprise to transform our cities and rural communities. First we create a business plan. With adequate funding planned, from the families themselves, to be cash flow positive from the first client families. Establish a communications hub (website), develop training materials, solicit local facilitators and begin publicizing the enormous societal impacts possible when families sustain and fund their members to start businesses to attend college and most importantly of all to build the extended family support system. When family members regularly turn to their own families for emotional, technical, logistical and financial support ... All of society benefits.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Developing a business model that allows the families to accumulate funds to sponsor their members activities and scholarships and to hire our professional team to run the organization. We would use technology to enable a small group of consultants to handle at least 100 family collectives. Ideas?

I like your idea; I want to improve your odds of getting funding I will vote for your idea if you will vote for mine. My idea is for a web site that raises money for inventors and entrepreneurs called New Idea website Check out my idea blob submission and visit New Idea Website and see what I can do for you. http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/4060-NEW-IDEA-WEBSITE The need for jobs is one of the biggest problems that a democratic government faces because creating jobs is an unwanted byproduct of business and industry. The reason I say its unwanted is the more jobs a business creates the more its expenses are and the smaller it’s bottom-line. If business and industry have their way they would run their companies with no jobs at all no management or labor. To deal with this dilemma I pr…moreopose a federal venture capital carrot fund that literally pays entrepreneurs to create jobs. The investment bank would be expected invest in seed level startup projects like yours and to lose money at a specified dollar per jobs ratio for example during hard times that figure may be as high as $20,000 per job and good times the figure may be as low as five dollars per job, by controlling this ratio the fed could roughly control unemployment. The bank will be expected to fund novel products and services and stay away from things like restaurants that will simply draw jobs from other restaurants or moving factories from one part of the country to another. If you like this idea vote for it and send the congressional letter from the website. Sincerely Frank Scruggs
Our website is being launched ( www.FamilyCOA.org ) and we are completing our business plans. 1) We are definitely planning on becoming a microfinance bank and utilizing the power of community and peer pressure to increase the chances that our loans are paid back. 2) We are launching a service for families that allows them to be closer and communicate better. We recommend the service www.Yammer.com and facilitate it's use for families by charging a nominal fee to maintain the domain name and email accounts. Please visit www.Yammer.com and if you are interested in using this service, as a family, contact us for rates at webmaster@familyCOA.org.
From the comments and further research ... It sounds like we might structure FCOA as a bank specializing in microfinance and financial consulting to families. This would allow us to generate revenue through the loans to microenterprises that could then be turned back into support for our member families.
