Idea Description
The IHFOA is intended to be a non-profit organization whose purpose is to revitalize and organize the homes, needs, and families of Indy. Low income families/individuals that qualify will have been referred to our services through gov't services and ministries throughout the city and will receive free assistance where the following apply:
• The loss of a loved one(s) has disabled a family/individual whose home is close to or uninhabitable.
• The structure and physical appearance of the homes are in need of repair and updates due to neglect, age of home, and/or abandonment.
• Families/Individuals recovering from financial and emotional hardships of living with illness.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
1. Be approved for a non-profit status and gather resources to help fund the IHFOA including grant writing and fund raising events.
2. Organize efforts to provide information and resources for individuals seeking assistance.
3. Organize meetings with child development agencies that assist in the care and needs of low income families and individuals who are seeking child care services; food and clothing needs; child medical care; child trauma counseling; and other services whose intent is to help maintain the health and happiness of children.
4. Open discussion with correctional institutions of juveniles to host a community service outlet that incorporates education & skill development.

Q1: Getting the attention of our political leaders to see where there is a great need for this type of organization and networking among resources.
I think that this is a great idea. Especially after formerly living in Indianapolis for 20 years, I too have a heart for Circle City. I think this would be a great way to help out the community and build a stronger city.
The main political leader that you need to get attention from is the mayor.
What you need to do is write or call the mayor of Indianapolis, Gregory Ballard and let him know about the IHFOA and its causes and tell him how important it would be if it were functioning and how many jobs it would create, should you get the proper funding to get it started.
