Global collaboration and networking site for teachers
Global collaboration and networking site for teachers
Idea Description
We will provide a website where teachers and learning institutions of all levels across the globe can come together for networking and collaboration.
Our goal is to:
* Design a global network of educators for collaboration
* Develop curriculum through community contributors
* Deliver the curriculum globally
* Determine the impact by project and by individual
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
1. Form a limited liability corporation (LLC).
2. Hire independent contractor for website program, design, and maintenance.
3. Sell banner advertising space on website.
4. Market website to local schools, colleges, teachers, professors, and education students.
5. Provide incentives for introducing website to new learning institutions.
Vote for it now.

This is a fantastic idea and I would truly like to see something like this take off. Best of luck to you!
You might want to check out Yahoo Teachers - it sounds like a similar approach
I am familiar with Yahoo Teachers. There are quite a few major differences between this website and Yahoo Teachers. This site will be completely open source. Anyone who logs on will be able to change and update lesson plans, activities, problems, etc. Networking will also be a mix of the MySpace and Facebook models. The interface will be more liek Facebook, but will be open networking like MySpace. This site will eventually be able to tie into other wiki sites and YouTube. We have vision for rapid large growth and are committed not just to networking and collaboration, but rather to revolutionizing education worldwide. Welcome to the 21st Century!
A fund raising idea for you and all those out there. Go to..the following site. You have to cut and paste, or type it in the url bar up top. It will not show up if you just Google it. Not enough money for the big boys I guess. www.virginiasbestwater.us Read it, and go to the link at the bottom for more info. I represent one company that does this (see the area we cover) but there are many suppliers out there. There is room to put 3 different businesses on a bottle of water, for advertising purposes. If you find a sponsor or two for your water, you could all 3 sell the water, and all 3 advertise your business. You can even have your own water label, and "sell" your own product. I will probably post this on other sites here on idea blob. Be sure to go to the site I mentioned for …moreother ideas on this fundraiser project.
Kids like to play games. Structure the learning with language training, and games. Use yahoo games for idea stimulation. For example you could have 2 english speakers that were learning spanish, and 2 spanish speakers from 2 different countries that were learning either engish, or culture..... The game could be a card game with partners. During or between games, classrooom type questions could be put forth with the group helping each other learn.
Will the posts, lesson plans(LP), etc. be translated into several languages? Will this be automated? Will blogs be monderated? Will LP updates be delayed and standardized somehow? What cryteria will be used (if any)? Can users submit or will you set goals for LPs to achieve? Goals could be spelling, globalization, history/culture/religion, sustainable/green, tech/science, college-prep, or trade-readyness. Have you considered your market segment or range of educator = pre-school, grade-school, secondary, higher education, trade school?
Gave you my vote. I have a similar idea for child care professionals. http://www.ideablob.com/u/chucklasker/811-ChildCares-com-Social-Network-f
absolutely! great idea - blackboard could swoop in and buy you out! Check out my idea when you have the chance...I'd like you to be one of my site's first users! Cheers!!!
Sounds good.
be careful with who you hire to do your site. given the little amount of money here, $10K even going to India will be relatively expensive. you need excellent project mgt. skills. good luck!
Great concept! Longing to see how the whole thing will actually pan out. Good luck!
This idea already exists and has been in practice sine 2006, check out Curriki, an online community for creating and sharing open source K-12 curricula. Curriki is a social entrepreneurship organization that supports the development and free distribution of open source educational materials to improve education worldwide. The online community gives teachers, students and parents universal access to peer-reviewed K-12 curricula, and powerful online collaboration tools. Curriki is building the first and only Web site to offer a complete, open course of instruction and assessment. Founded by Sun Microsystems in 2004, the organization now operates as an independent nonprofit. For more information, visit www.curriki.org
kudos to you. I am a College Instrutor and the networking support and bouncing ideas experience and information amongst each other. I am looking forward to seeing this
