Reduce the cost and increase the availability of x-ray imaging for medical diagnostic purposes
Idea Description
Replace expensive high-voltage (220 Volt AC) medical X-ray imaging systems that utilize decades old proprietary digital technology with low-power (12 Volt DC) systems that use modified commercially available 12 megapixel digital cameras to record X-ray images projected onto a flat-panel receptor.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The technology is already operating and our product is just entering the medical imaging marketplace here in the US though our website: http://addissystem.com We would use the $10k to help us connect with and establish distribution of our product to medical service providers in third world and developing nations so that advanced medical imaging can be made accessible to populations previously excluded. Low power, low cost direct digital X-ray imaging systems placed in remote locations can be connected through the internet or cell phones to Radiologists anywhere in the world and would provide access to medical diagnostic expertise previously unavailable.
Vote for it now.

Q1: The challenge is to develop an integrated system to protect and traffic the images from their source to the remote Radiologist and to develop the service network to install, maintain and operate the remote systems.
This is slowly being integrated into the health care system at the moment. My mom is the supervisor is the X-ray Dept at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College PA. They just upgraded their systems to a digital format. They also saved alot of money on development of films by using a hospital wide system called PAX to archive all of their images, and to include them in the hospitals network so they could be viewed anywhere in the hospital that there was a computer avalible. The only problem is that these systems (the one purchased by Mt Nittany was from Fugi) is that they cost about 1.5Million
