The Power Breakfast Club
The Power Breakfast Club
Idea Description
The Power Breakfast Club is a program designed to teach a group of low-income children and their parents about living a healthy lifestyle. After serving a healthy breakfast, the group will learn about nutrition, cooking and exercise. The next step is empowering the group to bring awareness to the community around health, wellness and being eco-friendly. Community activities include: planting a community or school garden, starting a smoothie and healthy snack booth, starting a community exercise or health competition.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Expanding the program to more schools. We are currently starting at Girls Prep in New York City. We have found from our programs that in order for America to eat better and exercise, we need to unite people in the community and let them know that it can be fun to be healthy. By teaching a group of children, involving their parents and empowering them to make a difference together in their community, they will want to lead a healthier lifestyle and have their friends and neighbors join in.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Getting enough volunteers to run the programs. While we have people who want to help serve breakfast during the day of the event, we struggle to have committed volunteers help with the prep work.

Post a commentI like your idea; I want to improve your odds of getting funding I will vote for your idea please vote for mine. My idea is for a web site that raises money for inventors and entrepreneurs called New Idea website Check out my idea blob submission and visit New Idea Website and see what I can do for you. http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/4060-NEW-IDEA-WEBSITE The need for jobs is one of the biggest problems that a democratic government faces because creating jobs is an unwanted byproduct of business and industry. The reason I say its unwanted is the more jobs a business creates the more its expenses are and the smaller it’s bottom-line. If business and industry have their way they would run their companies with no jobs at all no management or labor. To deal with this dilemma I propose…more a federal venture capital carrot fund that literally pays entrepreneurs to create jobs. The investment bank would be expected invest in seed level startup projects like yours and to lose money at a specified dollar per jobs ratio for example during hard times that figure may be as high as $20,000 per job and good times the figure may be as low as five dollars per job, by controlling this ratio the fed could roughly control unemployment. The bank will be expected to fund novel products and services and stay away from things like restaurants that will simply draw jobs from other restaurants or moving factories from one part of the country to another. If you like this idea vote for it and send the congressional letter from the website. Sincerely Frank Scruggs
I love your idea. How would you be able to make healthy foods available for low income families all the time? I know that food cost has been rising and unhealthy foods is cheaper in the grocery stores and fast food places for the struggling families out there. People are always on the fast go out the door. If we look back from the past processed foods didn't exist and mothers were at home making healthy foods from scratch and all they had to do was buy milk, eggs, sugar, and flour, ect at the grocery market and get their fruits and veggies from their backyard gardens. How can we reverse that path that we are in and get in back to how it should be with healthy living eating habits?
Finally! Schools have been waiting for an idea like yours - people don't yet realize how important a role nutrition plays in a child's ability to learn. And this is not just a cool program but an crucial first step in inculcating life-long nutritional behavior that impacts health, achievement ability and community and environmental awareness
sounds like this has already made an impact in their lives, can't wait to hear more about how the program grows and continues to reach out to the community!
great idea! let's stay in touch... who knows... we could work together down the line. all the best for this race. sincerely, natalie - the earth garden project.
Fantastic idea to encourage healthy eating behaviors for kids! I bet this idea would thrive!
