How sure are you about the patents in China? They are notorious for "lax" patents. Although I do agree that outsourcing production is the way to go, you have to be sure that you use a trusted broker. India might be a better alternative, their IP laws are much stricter and I believe there is a website that rates the reliability of importer/exporters.
