JPL Records Audio Productions is a Chicago land recording studio that provides three primary services to clients: music, marketing, and duplication. The studio is different because it provides a professional service at an affordable rate. The mid-grade studio fills an industry gap in the area where clients are able to get a professional audio product that doesn't cost a fortune, but isn't located in a basement either. Clients get a professional experience without the flush amenities of top-notch studios. The studio caters to the TV and film markets, the professional composer, the dance and medium-grade artist market, and anyone else that can afford pricing of $40-125/hour.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
If I won $10K, I would begin building “Studio B.” This second studio would be geared towards artists looking to keep costs even lower. Musicians would be provided with a “do it yourself” experience including a basic tracking room, microphone set, and mixing gear without the audio engineer. Studio B would be great for high school artists and those on a tight budget who are new to the recording process.

Q1: Marketing a professional experience at an affordable rate is a challenge. The audio production industry has a stigma of being a very expensive and an out of reach experience for anyone but the professional.
I appreciate your comment duckling. Educating the customer about the new business model will be difficult and time consuming. Perhaps by focusing creative and persistant marketing efforts, we can educate the consumer without breaking the bank.
