Grass And Chains- Disc Golf Retail Store/Bar/Coffee Shop-...
Grass And Chains- Disc Golf Retail Store/Bar/Coffee Shop- For Die Hard Disc Golfers!
Idea Description
The sport of disc golf is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. I want to open a retail disc golf store with everything you could possibly need to play the sport, including new and used equipment. I also want it to double as a bar/coffee shop. The idea is to get people to come and socialize about the sport they love while having the drink of their choice. I plan on including and indoor putting area because here in Oregon it rains frequently and it isn't always the ideal weather to practice your putting game. I'd also offer clinics for beginners, drink special, etc.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I believe that I could easily put my dream into reality with $10,000. The first thing I would do would be to find the ideal retail location and do a little redecorating. My first priority would be towards the disc golf side of it, then as business increases, to add the bar/barista area. I would first remodel, then purchase the inventory.
Vote for it now.

Q1: How do I draw attention to my business initially? Word of mouth? Internet? What works best for me and my situation.

I agree, some of the best PR you could get could come from equipment manufacturers/vendors. See how they could help you as a start-up and what-not. Maybe they could have reps come out and do product demos at you store. Also, I'd suggest buying an iMac from the Mac Store to use as your point of sales machine, there's some good POS software out there for Mac
I would come play disc golf at your place. It would definitely be the best disc golf establishment I've ever been to!
As a resident in the Pacific Northwest and an avid disc golf player, I love this idea. I have seen the sport nearly triple in popularity over the last year in my small college town.
I would check out manufacturers of disc golf equipment and maybe contact them for PR purposes to see what kind of backing they would give you... or if they would be willing to vend their equipment etc... I think its a cool idea.
Incorporate all things disc! Expand your niche by including ultimate fans. I like your enthusiasm. Good luck.
A great idea! Many sporting goods stores carry a limited amount of discs, but not portable cages and other equipment a disc golfer needs. This could concentrate all equipment into one place. This is the hotest sport among the 20-40 age group and a real winner. Also the idea of an indoor putting area in the Pacific Northwest - YES, definitely a hit!
It's definitely a unique concept for a niche market. Best of luck!
