Design fashionable and age-appropriate wheelchair covers and adaptive clothing for children, teens and adults
Idea Description
Working in a community college setting, I have seen so many students on campus that are physically challenged and have noticed that the wheelchairs they use are very drab and boring. I am thinking of making standard and custom-made seat/back covers to show the user's individuality and art/fashion sense, while taking into account age and gender. Taking the idea further, I would like to design adaptive casual wear for children, teens and adults that reflect fashion and function. In researching this area, covers and clothing options seem to be few, and geared mostly toward the elderly. I would like to develop age-appropriate designs for children, teens and adults.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I would work toward the manufacture of samples, research my customer - whether it be retail or direct/special order via a website, and market my product.
