FairTradeHelps.com - educating people on how sustainable trade impacts people and the planet
Idea Description
Fairtradehelps.com is a free website providing education and information on the link between the Fair trade movement and people and the planet. Often, people don’t realize that they vote with their dollars. The site aims to inform consumers on social (ie health care, education, poverty reduction/elimination, women’s rights) and environmental impacts of sustainable trade, as well as provide resources to make their spending money count. Hopefully, soon, other Fair Trade Federation members and supporters will be able to contribute articles, etc.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
We want to beef up the website with articles and other submissions, as well as market it better. Education is key! So, next we plan to use the money to provide educational workshops for our artisans (we work with artisan groups in Peru) on topics such as managing resources, finances, competition in the US market, which make the producer groups better equipped to reach US and international markets and easier to work with. Also, we hope to provide other resources, like books for schools and water wells in the areas we work with.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Without much time our resources to currently dedicate to this site, we are looking for ways to beef up exposure. Any ideas?

There are already a fair amount of fair trade organizations out there. I'm not sure how to tell you to stand out. I found and purchased clothing from nosweat.com and justiceclothing.com by googling US fair trade clothing or something like that. No Sweat just used this site to boost their business power. Good luck!
