Volunteer! The value to yourself can be equally as great. Socially, Spiritually, Professionally or even personally, through points earned.
Idea Description
Volunteering begins at home. Many want to volunteer, especially around the holidays. Non-profit organizations are always in need volunteers, and many are interested in helping or giving back to thier community but just don't know how. The idea is to bring them together so families, friends, neighbors and individuals can learn about organization's missions and thier needs via a web site. Within this same site, they can learn the details and sign up to volunteer. Whether for a few hours, a day or on a recurring basis. Many today want to know what is in it for them. Besides the satisfaction they will unknowingly recieve, they can accumulate points to purchase items donated from companies.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Marketing - Web Development - Hosting - Legal requirements.

Ability to register end users and allow them to sign up for a volunteering event and track thier hours donated (earning points) with the ability to purchase donated items from companies. Additionally, their will be expenses in developing partnerships with non-profit organizations to support the idea and allow this site to provide them thier means for registering volunteers.

Q1: Collaboration of various organizations and working together as non-profits to support thier mission through human resources while getting companies to support the initiative through donations.
You only get a paragraph to articulate your idea, and when I read yours, it just didn't come across for me. I’m sure you know that there are sites which summarize the missions and volunteering opportunities of national & global non-profits. And there are MILLIONS classified as 501-c3 organizations. So it’s a daunting task to start from square one. What would you be doing to improve the resources that we already have out there? What problem are you trying to solve?
I feel that I'm limited in how I can shape advice for you. (But I spend my time here because I want to encourage social responsibility, and you appear to share that passion).
What I can do, is share some of my personal research data that might help stimulate & refine your idea. Perhaps you can resubmit?
* In the U.S. ~60.8M adults are active volunteers
* 39% are regular volunteers; 35% occasional & 27% episodic
* Kids of parents who actively volunteer are 3-times more likely to volunteer
* Half of all charities use special events as a way to fund-raise<…morebr />* Special events generate 15% of all charitable contributions
* In many cases, the special events cost more than they raise in contributions.
Good Luck!
