Idea Description
Development of a website for musicians to showcase their music and conduct daily business operations. This site wouldn't merely be useful for promotions (like myspace), it would help a indie diy musician "run their business" (being a musician is a business), from the internet. As a self-managed indie diy musician myself, I find it frustrating to have to have 100 memberships accross the web for different functions I use in my daily routine. This site would solve the problem, and be self-funding using turn-key techniques combined with ad support.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Start the business, write a detailed business plan, do market research and create a detailed marketing and sales plan, develop a detailed project plan, purchase hosting and domains, contract an additional freelance developer to assist with the build of a BETA site, seek affiliations with companies that could maximize the potential of the site. Thereafter, the BETA site would be publicized and launched on an "invite only" basis to get feedback and feature suggestions to improve site. BETA 2 would become open to the public and site will leave BETA stages upon strong satisfaction feedback from users.

I like it. At first, I thought you were being more general. Just people being able to get their music out there, in which I almost just posted up a comment saying MySpace beat ya to it. But your's is more in depth. Good idea, and I think it'd help quite a bit.

I think something like this is sorely needed. As the owner of a struggling indie label this would go a long way to solving some of the issues that I run into on a daily basis.
