  This reminds me of the coworking phenomena. Do a google search for coworking and you'll find a ton of resources...maybe even some business plans or other support. One neat resource is http://coworking.pbwiki.com/. Sounds like a cool idea.

  Rather than renting out a facility, I would start at someone's home.
  
  See about gathering people at a person's house who has a need - such as someone with a broken leg, then gather folks to get together to help them out and to also hang out and get other stuff done using the house facilities.
  
  If people like the idea and keep expanding, you can create a whole network of do good and feel good networks?

  I agree with brhyde1988 about doing a survey before jumping into this. My first thought was why would I load all my dirty laundry in the car and gather the kids in the car and drive somewhere to do my laundry. What a pain. What if I get there and no one is even there to talk to?
  
  I don't mean to be negative, but these are questions that you need to have a really good answer to before investing your money. I think your idea of giving SAHMs and D's a place to go and socialize is a GREAT one. I'm just not sure whether they really want to go to the hassle of leaving their homes to do household chores. You would probably do well to talk to fitness centers who have an onsite babysitter to see how much that service is used. Do moms and dads take advantage or do they wait for their spouse to come home so they can hop in the car (without buckling anyone's seat besides their own!) and take off. Know what I mean?

  In response to BKelley. I only wish that all SAHM's were in very good economic standing. I am a SAHM not because we have enough money but because we are in a poor economic standing where we can't afford for me to work and do childcare. I am not sure on the statistics but i do know many SAHMS that cannot afford to work.

  keep in mind the SAHD's are growing deep in numbers over the years and sometimes 2 parents working exists greatly. This idea only benefits those that fit in the social and economic status you are referencing and since the families that have SAHM's are traditionally in very good economic standing or else they wouldnt be SAHM's maybe the SAHM's can band together and raise their own money and let money in an environment like this go to an organization or business that could REALLY use it?

  You've got a good idea but you have some work to do.
  
  Have you done a survey of your target population? Do you know how you are going to reach your target population to let them know what you have available? How do you know they are interested? Hard facts in this area will help you get government funding to help with your endeavor, especialy if you are thinking of subsidizing for low-income families.
  
  Other facts you need to put forth: you need to sell this idea. What are its benefits to families, to the community? You need to sell you. What is it about you that will make this idea special and successful?
  
  Do you have a rough business plan in place? What are the projected costs?
  Without a business plan, it is hard to be taken seriously.
  
  If you are serious about this idea and you want to see it come to fruition, prepare for it. Prepare for the $10,000, don't wait around and see if it comes and then try to see what you can do with it. Do some survey work and get some numbers of SAHM that will use your facility. Write you…morer business plan. You don't need an MBA to do that. Go to your local library and/or search the web for free resources. I know they are there because I've used them.
