Big Fish, Small Pond - a Job Site targeting small to mid-sized companies
Idea Description
"Be a big fish in a small pond!" I am building a job website that will feature jobs from companies with 500 employees or less. I've worked in large organizations before and feel that I am more comfortable and can accomplish much more in a smaller environment. There is less red tape to deal with, more responsibility over multiple skill sets, and you don't get pigeon-holed into one single job task. I know so many people that feel the same way. We all describe this career concept as "it's great to be a Big Fish in a Small Pond."
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I will finish the development of the website. The $10,000 will help market this new site to employers at smaller organizations (500 employees or less) in a certain geographic location. After acquiring a few partners, I will begin advertising to potential employees to generate traffic using search advertising, job aggregation websites (Indeed.com and SimplyHired.com), and hopefully word of mouth.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Will $10K be enough to advertise and solidify my market position in one or more geographic locations?
Sensible idea, stiff competition
Hey I tell you when you are starting out you should do as much networking as you can. Most of the people that I have worked with are able to start a referal system by going to network meetings and trade shows. You need to be bold clear and friendly. You are all the people know about your business. If they like you, they will come. : ) The 10k is good but if you are going to advertise in news papers and magazines the cost may eat up the 10k in no time (make flyers and put them on cars and have someone pass them out in the malls, jobs and other locations). Become the expert hold seminars and do the above. It will take time but at the point that your business gets to the tipping point
