In addition, you would be able to have your own profile to get information you care about most and keep track of old stories you've read through because it is easy to forget things you've read about.

Q1: Do you think this idea would be valuable for people?
Aggregated headlines. Would there be links to the whole story?
Thank you for your comment cboulis. I know Google has a way to customize the news you get, but the essential thing is that it does not break down a huge article for you into a short summary / bullet points. Still, I think semi-mocking Google's idea when it comes to personalization will be something to look at.
Your idea is touching on personalized news, Google News currently has a section where stories that you are likely to enjoy are shown - "Recommended for you". You will need to have a Google account for this to work, and you don't need to explicitly state which articles you like in order for this service to work. Google figures out what news you like from what the stories you have previously clicked. I have posted an idea based on personalization of Wikipedia articles that shares many of the same principles. Check out "Help people contribute their knowledge to Wikipedia more effectively"
Interesting idea!
They key difference of my idea of my idea from an RSS reader / feeder would be that you don't have to read a 1 to 5 page article. My company would have people pick out "key" ideas from the whole article and basically bullet point them. You can read through a whole article, but the problem is that the article is not necessarily concise in any way. Not only that, but when you do read an article, if you're able to recite all the information you just read I know I'd be impressed. You only remember key bits of information, this would pick out those key bits for you and give you the chance to read the whole thing if you would be interested more of the details, but most people forget the details.
