Idea Description
Ongoing training and assistance program for family caregivers who do not qualify for Home Health, including elderly, IV Care, home care after surgery, long term care at home. Family and patients frequently are sent home with minimal teaching and no experience in caring for people at home. They are left on their own to struggle with strange equipment, IVs, not fully understanding how to help their loved ones prevent injury after procedures, transfer, go to the bathroom, or lift - among many things. Ongoing support support classes before and after surgeries, stroke patients, for example.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Engaging other nurses to help set up classes and teach people skills they need for help at home; operating a Hotline for help. Organizing family volunteers for assistance.
