Nonprofit company that would act as an umbrella for individuals to apply for health benefits as a group
Idea Description
The company will be an umbrella that individuals can join up and apply en masse for the less expensive group rate insurance premiums. Much like a larger corporation with many employees is able to obtain cheaper health care, so too could individuals working in fields, such as the service industry (waitresses, bartenders etc), who do not have access or cannot afford health care.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Use the money to acquire individuals with the know-how who can aid in the creation and operation of such an endeavor. Advertise the idea locally (Philadelphia) at first with plans to push into other urban markets.

i've always wondered why this was never done. perhaps it goes against the terms of service for the insurance provider? you would simply need to create a website with categories, depending on job classification, with a list of insurance policies applicable to them. great idea that i think is worth pursuing!
