  What knowledge do you have to offer? I agree that your fee depends on experience, but it also depends on the type of experience. There should probably be a great mix of real life success combined with a strong personal experience resume that allows your clients to have confidence in what you say. I would email Emilya and determine whether or not you are first of all qualified for this, and I would also examine whether or not this is something that could make you any money. I would start small and locally with a specific strategic growth plan that allows you to engage the public and your friends in the most exposed way possible.

  I am a life coach that speaks to an average of 10-15 clients a week. I also, run seminars, tele-seminars, have products, write a newsletter that has a following. I charge $100-200 per session. I don't believe that life coaching is a fad. Coaching for atheletes isn't a fad. Why should it be for getting a person success in life the way an athlete uses a coach to support them in success in sports?

  Your fee depends on your experience, success education and proven achievements. The coaching field is fad right now. I would personally stay away from this money chasing fad. Come up with something more specific. Be a consulted that is unique and based on your expertise. To me: followers are losers! If I wanted to hire a consultant, I would find one that was more successful than me in a given field. I wouldn't hire a self proclaimed "life coach" that is in debt, been divorced twice, has a gambling problem, is overweight and smokes. To me a "Life Coach" is an 80 year old billionaire, anyone else is a fraud!

  Would you need a qualification? It sounds like you are touching on the areas of Psycology and Sociology? Would you go indepth with your clients? I see a risk for being held accountable for the clients lifes. They would have to sign a waiver to avoid law suits. Charge $35 per hour to start with and charge a high cover for the events.

  Life coaching is a big market -- but also has lots of competitors. Basically, you need to showcase your abilities. One idea, for example, is to setup a blog and perhaps put together an ebook (these are cost-effective methods).

  Pricing your product or service appropriately is vital to a business' success. The price you charge should be a function of who your target market is, what your competition is charging, and what the demand for your service is. You indicated you were looking at serving young adults and I wasn't sure if that meant teenagers or college age, however, as an example, if you are targeting children from families that make $30,000 a year then $35 an hour may be too much. If you are targeting children from families that make $5 million a year then they may not hire you because you are only charging $35 and they are used to paying $200 for similar services.
  
  I suggest clarifying who it is that you want to serve and then doing research on your competitors serving the same market. Look at their qualifications and prices and then price yourself accordingly.
  
  You could also approach starting your coaching business from another angle. How about doing group sessions or the events you describe for many young people and use them as opportunity to recruit coaching clien…morets. As you get positive word of mouth from those clients and your events, it should bring in additional coaching clients.
