The History of Water: educational & entertaining interdisciplinary children's theater production
Idea Description
We seek to create a theater piece that takes the form of the most entertaining science class EVER. A seemingly boring classroom lecture transforms into a magical, musical, mystery tour of the unique history, characteristics, and supernatural abilities of WATER - an incredible entity - able to sense, remember, respond - that makes up most of US and our planet and that no form of life on earth can do without. In the end, taking care of our water is in fact taking care of ourselves and our planet.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
We have already been invited to perform the piece as part of the 24th Street Theater's "Saturday Explorer Series" for family audiences and were selected to conduct preliminary workshops with the students at California Institute of the Arts in January. The $10K will be used to cover production expenses including sets, costumes, instruments, rehearsal space, etc, and will enable us to take the production on the road and present it at multiple venues.

This topic has so much possibility! I absolutely love it.
Please post the specifics of your Cal Arts performance (day date time and address- I'd like to come and see it!) I love this idea.Teach the kids know what water is really about (adults too) in a way that is fresh and stimulating! Good for you! I will attend with a group to support- - if you will provide information Hail M. Emoto!
The CalArts workshop is not a public performance. We're still in the developmental phases of the piece and we'll be working with the students sharing some of our performance techniques and methods of investigation. The 24th Street Theater presentation will be our first public performance, and that is on April 19th 2008. Please do come and see it! Emoto is a huge influence on this piece, indeed! :-)
New Show Date: Our first public performance is going to be at the 24th Street Theater in Los Angeles on May 10th!
Good luck with your performance this Saturday! Let us know how it goes.
