what about employing the homeless to run a movable snack business. Then I would say it is innovative.
i really like this! people are way to lazy to really give to the homeless.... lets make it easy for them.
Thanks for the comment and advice on my idea! I think this is a great idea. you could also have people donate clothes as well. I wanted to start a hair service for the homeless to give them a sense of beauty. But stick with this one!!! and I would love more advice from you.
I work in a community for homeless and low income women in DC and I'm not sure what services are available in NYC for the homeless. We have a lot of mobile feeding crews and finding food really isn't the biggest challenge to our folks. Could you think about a mobile shower station, mobile computer lab or locker or short-term storage for homeless that are trying to store their stuff while they work. Those are three areas that we find challenging here in DC. I second the sugestion about employing homeless to run moveable snack businesses. Robert Egger at DC Central Kitchen is working on a project like that and would be a good person to check out. I can't remember his blog name but you could google him and it would show up I'm sure.
