Idea Description
Prescription tablets and capsules are counted on a tray using a spatula is to push the drugs into a hopper. Tablets are motionless on the tray and are easy to count. Capsules, being like cylinders, roll around the tray and are oriented in all directions. Chasing and counting capsules by hand slows down the prescription process.
Only 4% of drugs are counted by automation, the remainder is counted by hand.
My invention orients the capsules in one direction and immobilizes them to speed up the counting process. Sick patients will get their medication quicker.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The device has already been designed on paper and a prototype constructed. The prize money would be used to refine the prototype and have a final version created which would suitable for manufacturing. A small number of the devices would be produced for in-the-field testing. Final full-scale production would be finance by selling advertising on the device to drug manufacturers.
