Idea Description
“Scan A Gift” a personal scanner that scans UPC labels thus going beyond traditional boundary lines department stores established for gift registries. While shopping at a mall, my wife identifies Christmas gifts and scans each item (scanner records store, item, and price). My wife indicates the size, color, quantity, etc. Once done shopping, she gives me the scanner which I download to my computer and presto! I know every gift she wants and am able to give her a usable gift… a gift she desires that is the right size, the right color, the right style, the right quantity.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I would continue with my business plan and begin recruiting experts for my team who can assist in product development, UPC codes, scanning readers, and overall retail technological advances.

Could you somehow get this to work with a cell phone? Instead of scanning the UPC, build a program that when you type the UPC into the phone it downloads that information into your computer program and generates a list. All UPC's are consistent and registered should be a way to build a national database from that list.
